Operations Manager, DATA

We are seeking a high-caliber Operations Manager, to be based in our central London office.  The ideal candidate will have significant, high-level experience of business support, HR and financial management, preferably at a non-profit. The Operations Manager is a newly created role within the growing team and will be responsible for managing our business, financial, HR and systems activities within Europe.  They will also work closely with the finance and human resource directors located in our Washington DC office.

Media Assistant, DATA

DATA is looking for a media assistant to join our busy European team. Excellent research and writing skills are essential. We’re also looking for candidates with a degree in development, African studies or international relations, a second language (preferably French or Italian), and good IT skills. The job mainly involves media monitoring and analysis, desk research and managing media records. The pace is fast and there are great opportunities to learn but you need to be flexible, friendly and good at meeting deadlines.
 
The Media Assistant in London is part of the global communications team, reporting to the European Media Manager. This is a support role ideally suited to a recent graduate or person with 1-2 years’ work experience.
 
Key tasks and responsibilities:
  • Daily monitoring of UK, French and African media.
  • Maintaining media archive including news clips, photos and vision.
  • Producing media reports and analysis .
  • Maintaining and updating media contact lists.
  • Assisting website maintenance and development.
  • Helping develop ‘new media’ communications strategy.
  • Responding to media enquiries.
  • Supporting planning and management of events.
  • Desk research as required.
 
Skills/experience required:
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Familiarity with wide range of media sources.
  • Relevant degree (e.g. African Studies, International Development, Economics, Politics, History) or demonstrated understanding of DATA’s objectives and policy focus.
  • Good IT skills – Excel, word processing, database management essential; website maintenance, blogging, familiarity with social networks an advantage.
  • Second language, ideally French.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Flexible, friendly attitude – good team worker.
